What We've Been Reading
The February Newsletter
Last month, Jeff and I had the opportunity to go to Paris for a week. The objective was to visit a few trade shows, but we also had some amazing meals (planned) and the chance to hang out with old and new friends (some planned, some unplanned). As far as what we did, or where we’d recommend going, you can skip ahead to our Paris Guide.
A newer friend we met up with was Vincent, one of the co-founders/owners of Tiptoe. If you’re not familiar with the brand, I’d encourage you to check them out — they make beautifully-designed modular furniture and home decor accessories that are all manufactured in Europe. They’re currently not shipping to the US, but give them a follow in case that changes. We were able to carry home a few pieces in our suitcases, so that’s an option if you find yourself in Europe.
We always enjoy connecting with other small business owners, especially those who are in a similar space as us. It’s encouraging to hear their stories and learn how they’ve navigated both the pandemic and the more recent tariff uncertainties. A common thing to hear is that long-term success usually ends up being due to a combination of strategy and luck. Who could have planned for the pandemic? Or the inflation that followed? And who would have foreseen Trump’s tariffs?
It’s been a wild several years. We’ve all been forced to adapt in different ways, and while change can be scary, it can also be exciting. Sometimes we have to be forced out of our comfort zones to get there, but we’re usually the better for it. Here’s to finding those silver linings where (and when) we can.
